Does the Commandment say Thou shalt worship thy Father and thy Mother? No, it says honor. Why when I ask about honoring Mary so many say absolutely NO. Honoring does not mean worshipping. I am sure Jesus is just really thrilled his Mother gets no honor from you. If it wasn't for her fiat we would still be deep into our sin. You say that she was just a regular person like us. She was not. A regular person like us would not have considered being an unmarried woman expecting a child through absolutely no contact with a man. We would have all ran the other way. How many would tend to agree? and what part would you agree with?

you're so right.... growing up my dest friends mom was as much a mom to me as my own -sometimes moreso. i look at our Blessed Mother in somewhat the same manner.... I love Jesus with all my heart and thus, His Mother for giving Him to me. sure He was God's Only Son - but HE was also Mary's Son. i've heard people say she wasn't necessary.... if she wasn't God wouldn't have chosen her. if she wasn't Jesus wouldn't have loved her and stayed with her and listened to her. some people say - Mary wasn't important - she was only a vessel.... tell that to all adoptive children. tell that to those on death row and in prosion because of "trauma from not having a mother's love".....
BTW, i'm proudly named after Our Lady :)

God BLess!

PS - on the honour thy father and mother.... notice they don't complain about the usage of the word father - yet when calling a priest you hear - you shouldn't call anyone else father?!?!?

Yeah a lot of people don't understand the difference between praise and worship. Giving some one praise is just a way of honoring their memory, it has nothing to do with worship. Growing up, my child hood hero was Bruce Lee, and I praised him for his martial arts ability, this in no way meant that I was worshiping him as a God. People look for anything they can to try and prove that their way of worship is more righteous than the next, but if someone does not truly understand another person's belief then they have no right to scrutinize it. Ask questions yes, but do not judge, there is a fine line.

They're not sure what catholics mean when they pray and they have a different concept of belif they believe that no one is in heaven yet until judgment day...

Wasn't it the reformers who said mary should be honoured i.e. Martin luther had a great devotion to her...

but sometimes some catholics talk to much about her and they don't understand why.

also she was surley not an ordinary person God destined her to carry his Word and that is the greatest gift a human being has ever recieved... she is a role model and all christians should look up to her as a great christian but definatly not worship her for that is for God alone.

The observe worship extremely potential to provide the respect due. A statue crafted with ability or lovingly preserved for hundreds of years my be worth of a few honor in and of itself, and likewise that which it reminds us of also. The observe worship, has ranges in Latin, which Catholics who study can divide out. the optimal, of route, going to the Holy Trinity. Praying to a saint is purely asking someone who's common to be in Heaven, to intercess (not mediate) on your behalf.
