there are no Spanish country named Syria , for Spain is the country where Spanish people live .
perhaps it is just a language barrier or the accent ? not sure ?

I'm impressed with rbwtexan... so much honesty... he's totally right. I don't mean to be rude, but the truth is that most Americans don't know nothing about the rest of the world. They believe the capital of Brazil is Buenos Aires and about 80% of them didn't know where Vietnam was located by the time of the war.

Yes it sounds somewhat like Spanish - any mountainous country. Besides Syrians and Spaniards have similar looks.
