I have an old computer; I'm running Windows ME. I tried downloading DivX, but it says it doesn't run on WIndows ME and it won't download so it won't harm my computer. Is there a player I can download off the net to play these files? THanks.

If it's a plain avi file format it will play with windows media player. However if it is a DivX file ( that has .avi extension) it will require divx codec to be installed in order you can play it.

Download AVICodec - It's a program which itentifies the correct codec needed to open a media video.

Once you downloaded the correct codec (URL supplied by AVICodec) you can then play it in windows media player.

Google the word AVICodec.

Go to http://cccp.kickassanime.org and install their *.exe file.
It contains two video players and practically all the codecs you will ever need. Thus you should have no problem with viewing any video at any time.
Be sure to choose the Windows ME version!

You should have RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, and QuickTime on your computer - with these three, you should be able to play almost anything!

VLC (also known as VideoLan ClientPlayer) and Media Player Classic (MPC) should run fine on ME.
