hey well i can say i had a change of circumstances 10 weeks ago so doing the right thing i rang them 3 weeks later i recieved a form to fill in of course i sent this back straight away i waited 7 weeks before i got sick of waiting so i rang them to find out why there was an holdup to find out that i had missed something of my claim but they arnt allowed to get in touch with me to tell me of this i had to be a mind reader and guess. finally i got paid last week to only find out that they were ment to send a detailed form telling me of my payment dates and a week later im still waiting. if anyone ever wants anything from them dont expect it this time before xmas they are so lazy its unbelievable. however if you owe them money they will be on your back like a shot so be warned if you are expecting a speedy service you will be waiting a long time. i have complained about my problem and i got a letter of apology and that was it. good luck people

The Child Tax Credit system run by the Department of Work and Pensions is pretty fantastic. Childcare costs do get paid for too, up to 75% of the cost, and that goes directly to the carer. (The carer cannot be a family member and must be an approved childminder). Make sure you keep them updated to any changes to your income because if your income were to fluctuate - like if you cut your hours - you let them know and your Working Tax Credits will go up to compensate. It's an excellent system that means we can spend time with the children without having to worry.

i think its a good idea if it wasn't for child tax credit i would of had to go back to work full time, because of them i can now work part time and spend more time with my baby. as long as you keep telling them about any changes to your income/circumstances you shouldn't have a problem. my partner and i don't get much but it helps.

we apparently earn to much to get any help, even though our child care cost's are £800 per month this is not taken into consideration & the company car my husband has to drive (he is a car sales manager) costs us £8,000 per year this is seen as a benefit & ADDED to our yearly wage which in turn put's us over the limit. they have written to us saying we owe them £1500.00 for money paid to us 3yrs ago & we just have nothing to give them.
i feel we are being pinalized for being a hard working family just trying to get the best for our children i would be better off financialy if i were a single mum claiming all the benifits i could & living off the state.

I think it's a wonderful way for parents to get some help if they have lower income and qualify. You aren't really explaining what the trouble you've had is exactly.

an absolute life line for families like mine. it does however, tie one into an economic level that is hard to leave. Once at a certain level every penny you earn is taken from you.
Still, it benifits a lot of people.

I've had some trouble with them too, but now it's sorted, I really couldn't manage without it.

It really can help but it also makes too many mistakes with over payments then causes endless needless worries.
