The lip is a tender area. The piercing is going to feel like a cross between biting your lip and pinching it. It is very important to keep both the inside of the mouth and the outside of the mouth clean during the healing period. Piercings involve a sharp needle pushed completely through an area of flesh so yes, there is a level of pain. How much depends on you.

If you have a high tolerance for pain then it may not be that bad. Those people who say it's "excruciating" may not be able to handle pain that well. Everyone experiences pain differently so it's really hard to say without a doubt how much it is going to hurt.

This kind of pain only lasts a couple minutes anyways, if that. The actual piercing part is quick (count to 3 and it's done) and afterwards the area is sore. I have both my labret and monroe done and my monroe hurt much more than my labret. I also had to wait for awhile before I had my monroe done so I lost most of my adrenaline. The most uncomfortable part of the whole process is putting the jewelry in.

Think of it this way, if it really was that painful to have a piercing done, do you think people like myself would keep going back for more?

no. I don't have mine, but I know plenty of people who have gotten theirs done, as well as many other peircings. And as far as I've heard so far, getting the cartlidge of your ear done (or an industrial) hurt the most. I can imagine that the lip would be painful as there are a lot of nerves there, but I don't think it would be too bad. If you want it, than go for it. I got a tattoo on my 18th birthday and it was nothing.

Hi Getn, Anytime you have your body pierced it's going to hurt. Just like getting tattoos'. It depends on how badly you want this done. Some people can handle pain for than others. It's your choice, you have to make your mind up yourself. After all it's your body.

I did not think it was that bad. However, with all piercings you will feel something, so you should just relax and expect it to go by quickly.

I cannot tell you exactly how bad it may or may not hurt you, but I can tell you that it will be tolerable pain. Good luck

i've had it 3 times. it is painful to get and you have to be careful when you first have it. I really don't recommend it. I've taken it out & it leaves a small scar
