Quite alot, first your body shutsdown, then, this is the good bit, your atoms disperse and become something else, therefore turning you into another life form and carrying on the cycle of life making you imortal.
Happy now ?

Look At It This Way Every Second Of The Day That A Person Dies A new Person Is Born ,I Believe That This Body Dies But The Spirit Moves On To The Next Chapter In Its Life

I'm not to sure what happens when you die. Some people believe that it's like going to sleep and you never wake up again so you will not be aware that you are dead - scarey thought. My dad died some years ago and it was difficult to deal with but i know that he is still around because of things that happen. It's just a sixth sense that i get sometimes. So if i believe that he is still with me in spirit form maybe our spirit lives on and we become free to roam the world as we please and help to protect our loved ones. Unless we are dead we will never really know for sure, maybe it is a question that a medium could answer?

It seem you have asked and age old question with as many answers as there are fish in the sea. But still it is a very thought provoking question. Very good.

I believe that I will go to heaven. I have accepted Christ as my Saviour several years ago. I have always believed that there is a heaven and hell and that God is real. It was, though, only in my acceptance of him in my life that I was able to realize that without Christ I can not enter heaven. He is the only way there. Without Him you can not go to heaven.

I know many do not agree with me and that is ok you must live your lives the way you believe is the right way but let me just ask you this. If I am wrong and Christ is not the only way to heaven and in fact there is no heaven or hell at all, then what have I lost in believing that? And for those of you that do not believe (which are many) if you are wrong, and there is a heaven and a hell and Christ is the only way to heaven, then what do you lose? You see I may not go to heaven if I am wrong but I still lose nothing. If you are wrong you spend an eternity in hell.

Just think about it!

It's the thing we least think about but the fact remains that no one actually knows, do they. However, I do believe that, we as spirit forms, are a mass of energy that basically keeps us ticking over. If you believe in the laws of physics, enery can neither be created nor destroyed but merely changed from one form to another. If that is indeed the case, and we obey the laws of physics and therefore the universe, then indeed our life force cannot die but merely change into something else.
Personally, I think life on this planet is hard, very hard at times, and I think most folk agree with that. The thought of eternal life as a spirit form is therefore daunting but as said, no one really knows. And anyway, who are we to judge or decide on something that is possibly above our understanding? But is has given me one philosophy .... enjoy what you can and when you can in this life!

How can anyone know for sure unless they are dead? But I do believe there is an afterlife of some sort, our life on earth before we die has to mean something. I believe everyone goes to the same place, wherever that may be.

I wish I could believe you go to a peaceful, happy place populated by your parents, siblings, deceased pets, etc. but unfortunately there is not proof that I will.

In reality of course your born, you get old and then you die. End of story.

Make the most of life while it lasts as before you know it you'll be extinct!

Great question you will come back to earth as some one else, in the new life that you will lead depends on the way you lead you life this time round. Heaven and hell don't really exist its a miff it's just the good side or the bad side of reincarnation. Hope this helps

Smiley, i saw your previous question about your father. Ignore the people who may give you horrible answers to this new question.

I am a Christian. I think when we die we no longer need our body but our spirit lives on and is 'free'. My father died a year ago - his ashes are buried near the river right near my house. Whenever i feel sad and think my father is dead, i imagine him stepping up behind me and putting his hand on my shoulder. He is only a step away.

When it is time for your father to go, he will live on in your memory, and you can get out pictures and say to your little girl 'That was MY daddy!' and talk about him to her.

Try to make the most of him while he is still here, Smiley.

I wish you well. God comforts and strengthens all those who mourn who turn to Him.

You'll lose 26 grammes of your weight. That's how much your soul weighs, and when it leaves your body you'll be 26 gm lighter.
Not a bad weigh to lose weight, is it?

More seriously, read Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr Brian Weiss. It talks about previous lives and rebirth, and how you maintain your "connections" from one life to the next. That's if you believe in reincarnation. Wonderful book.
