A lot of times I will break out all over my chest at unexpected times of the day. I'm not sure if it's just because I have dry skin, but if something merely brushes againt my neck or chest, my skin will turn a bright red and begin to itch. I've thought about mentioning something to my doctor, but I don't want to sound hyprocondriacal. Do you think this is something I should be worried about?

Sounds like hives. The thing about rashes is their are hundreds of causes of them its hard to pinpoint what causes them. Have you been eating stuff that you normally don't eat have you used a differenet soap? If you can't think of anything go to your doctor and maybe he will give you a medicine that will help.

Let me tell you. By the sound of your name, I am guessing that you swim. My first thought is that you swim in a chlorinated pool. The chlorine is a toxin that is drying out your skin and obviously causing other problems. Stay out of the pool for a while and I am suggesting you go to a GNC or healthfood store and start taking Omega-3 supplements. This will help rid your body of toxins that may be causing this problem. Also try to estay away from junk food until this problem subsides. Good luck.

This sounds like hives to me. As a sufferer of idiopathic uticaria myself - I can sympathize with you. Try to determine if there has been any changes before a breakout - new laundry detergent, soap etc, and try to keep a log of what you eat to see if that is what sets you off. Hopefully you will be able to figure out what it is that is causing it, and that it isn't a situation like in my case where what is causing it can't be determined. You can try taking over the counter Claritin daily to see if that helps. Also...use a moisturizing lotion everyday in case it is something as simple as dry skin. Good luck
