Well, there is your problem right there. There are all kinds of Christians:

Some people think that to be Christian means to be like Christ - and he didn't follow the bible, though the bible is a great source of stories and information about him.

Some people think that to be Christian means to follow the bible - but they feel that they were given a mind by God himself to think and interpret the Bible for themselves, rather than to listen to whatever minister was sent their way.

Some people think that following the bible means taking it word for word literally as the word of God, even though they know that the Bible has been translated and interpretted into different versions through 2 millenium.

All of these people can equally call themselves Christian, in mind opinion.

Peace!

People who are true Christians do follow the Bible. Just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't mean that they are. Also most people who claim that Christians don't follow the Bible Have not studied it and don't understand it. For example, most non Christians don't understand that the Commandment "thou shall not kill" has absolutely nothing to do with war or capital punishment. There are other verses in the Bible that cover these situations.

People are human and God gave humans free will, we keep screwing it up. We can either accept the truth meaning the Bible or continue to screw up. It sounds like you have a person in your life doing this all you can do is pray for them to completley submit to Gods will and continue to encourage them to read their Bible. Good luck.
