They always come in to sleep, normally during the daytime, in the daytime they love my conservatory but at the moment they are fast asleep in the warm. I don't have a catflap - I want an early night, is it cruel to wake them and put them out. Will they poo if I let them stay? It's cold outside. I haven't got the heart to chuck 'em out.

Well, I am a cat lover. If it were me I would probably devise a cat litter box for them, such as a cardboard box or plastic tub with sawdust cat litter or even dirt or sand will work, but putting them outside will not hurt them. If they can't get into their own house they will find another warm place to stay. Cats are naturally nocternal animals. They are usually awake at night. So yes, they will probably get up at some point and want food water and a place to pee and poo. Cat urine is a nasty smell and very hard to get out. so unless you can make or buy a litter box I wouldn't risk it.

Of course I would never put them out in the cold. Does the neighbor make them stay outside in all kinds of weather?

You can get an disposable aluminum roasting pan and some litter at the grocery store. You could also use plain garden dirt in the pan if that's easier to get (and doesn't cost anything). Sand also works if you have any of that around. If they are going to stay in with you then they need a place to "go". Otherwise they might soil in an inappropriate place - not because they are being bad and they may just have to go.

Can you call your neighbor to come get them?

It wouldn't be cruel to wake them and put them out, especially if your neighbor has a cat flap.

They probably won't poo if you let them stay, but they might.

Give them the old boot...they have fur, they're animals and will be fine. I take care of my neighbors cat when she is away. The cat lives in the garage during the night and roams around in the day. This is her choice to keep him in the garage...my cat is totally indoors.

How do you feel about them being there? They probably won't do their duty inside, but you can't rule it out. And once one of them does, it will be very difficult to stop them after that.
If you really like them, you probably need to put a litter box out there as a precaution.

why dont you try not letting them in to start with ? but also buy a big dog that hates cats then you wont have a problem , but if they do poo then scoop it up and put it through your neighbours letterbox

Ask your neighbor if he wants his cats. If he doesn't, then buy a litter box, litter, food & water bowls, food, and consider them to be your new pets. If he does, then tell him to come get them.
