Hi there...this is genetically impossible as these two animals are different type of species and have different genetic makeup. Any vet can confirm this fact as well.

Here's more about this from others who heard about this phony web article: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061117102526AAksTav

In zoology the definition of a species is animals who cannot mate and have offspring from one another. A dog is a canine, a cat is a feline and they are entirely different species.

Even closely related species such as humans and chimpanzees cannot mate and have offspring. Dogs and cats are very divergent species and that will never happen.

I saw the story, too. I don't believe it's possible, and there are DNA tests being done to prove or disprove it. I think the cat probably adopted the puppies and is caring for them, but I don't believe she gave birth to them. I guess we will find out for sure when the blood test is completed and released.

I personnally think it's a hoax. If a cat bred with a dog, they wouldn't live. It would be like a monky breeding with a human. Yes, wolves and dogs can breed and Lions and tigers have been known to breed. But dna from dogs and cats are too different for a living creature to form from.

HAHAHA No. Cats and dogs are different species and by the definition of species no animal can successfully have offspring from another species if it did "mate" there wouldn't have been fertile offspring

no that is impossible because they are of different species and they did a DNA test to prove it, i think the cat just took the puppies in as her own babies

I don;t believe it either. Look what country that story came out of...
All they'll have to do is perform a DNA test on the offspring to determine the truth.
