Not in my neck of the woods. Beef and potatoes are. I'm from Oklahoma.

Definately not. Perhaps from the chippy but tomorrow night my husband is making me fish, chips and mushy peas! Now that makes getting up on monday morning worth its while. He makes the most sensational chips, they melt in your mouth and are not greasy, the fish is frozen batter stuff and the mushy peas straight from the tin. Its not healthy, not particularly exciting but at the end of a long hard day tucking into that in front of some rubbish telly snuggled next to my man its hard to beat!!

It's a tasty dinner with loads of fat and cholesterol. I'd give my right arm to eat this, but wouldn't want to clog my arteries with all that grease! So, here is what I do instead. I take cod... rinse with water... put in flour... then egg... then fish fry seasoning/breading... then pan fry it in very very VERY little OLIVE oil (good for you). I take an Idaho potato... microwave it for 8 mins (poke holes in it first)... then when done... I slice it in half lengthwise.... then slice each half into "steak fry" slices. I spray a tin-foil covered pan with olive oil... put them on it.... spray them with olive oil (I'm talking real light sprays)... then salt... pepper... and some Cholula seasoning powder... then bake at 450 for about 15 mins!

It's the closest thing to HEALTHY fish and chips... and delicious!

Your heart will thank you. :-)

Enjoy...

Eric

Not at all. Living in Mexico its a treat, we have great white fish here in the Baja peninsula, but the chips leave something to be desired. I take my own malt vinegar with me.

Absolutely not we have just finished our fish suppers as I couldn't be bothered cooking Sunday dinner(we eat in the evening). And had it delivered, how lazy is that? My mother would turn in her grave if she knew. Fish and chips on a Sunday? how very dare you!

Fry both with Canola oil. Serve with REAL ale. Supply chocolate for the ladies. Now you have all the major food groups represented. As long as the ale holds out, you've got a winner.

not by a long way. i work in a chip shop and we sell no end, we were very close to running out of potatoes and fish last weekend so i guess that shows that there is still a demand for it

Oh no! Lovely thick cod with succulent batter, plenty of salt and vinegar on the golden chips - excellent.

NO. it's only 'redundant' if you have night after night. As is anything else.
