Queens will usually begin weaning their kittens when they are 6 to 10 weeks old. If the queen has not weaned the kittens by 10 weeks, withhold food from the queen to decrease her milk production, then remove her from the kittens and gradually return to normal maintenance feeding.

Yes it is normal. When our cat had kittens she nursed them until they were 6 months old. She eventually got really tired of it and ran outside, but otherwise no harm was done. I would be careful not to let her get too stressed out. Make sure she is still *willing* to nurse, not just being bullied into it.

call your close by no-kill/foster preserve. they're going to discover properties for the 4 month old kittens who should not be nursing on momma-to-be. She needs that colostrum for her infant kits. The preserve ought to even provide the hot kittens their pictures on the spectacular circumstances to get them waiting for adoption, as long as you sign them over to them. Then get that damaging lady spayed. you will word how healthful she would be in a position to alter into as quickly as she's fixed. Kittens take plenty out of a mom cat. Do the spectacular ingredient for her. you're her "individual" now and he or she's reckoning on you. do not enable her outdoors anymore. era, please! Even after she's spayed. Her life is enriched interior simply by fact of you. stable success GrammaCarrie

As long as Mama will let them they will nurse, the Kittens need to be separated from Mama, because they are draining her body of vitamins and nutrients, that she needs to stay healthy

Usually momma cats wean them far before that. Normally I would say don't interfere, but you might want to start separating the kittens from the momma.

separate them for about two weeks! mom will stop producing milk, so will not let them do this anymore! there is no need to take them to the vet., for this! it will waste your money b/c all he'll do is tell you what i just did!! it is not healthy for the mom to keep letting them do this for a long time, but if she is doing o.k., don't worry about her!!
