the insides have settled to the bottom and the top of the bag is too soft.

I used to fill mine with sand. It teaches you to hit harder in order to move the bag, it could possibly weigh 600lbs or more.

Mark and Rob are right.You need a person who is skilled in striking to show you how.If you hit the bag bear knuckle and your wrist is not straight you could break your wrist.Even if you are wearing gloves this could happen.What a lot of people do not realize are the intricate details.For example if you are doing a key lock from the mount and you attack the right arm you need to take your right foot and hook the opposition's left leg near the ankle to finish.Wrist wraps are needed also along with the gloves when you use bag.Too many people think they can mimic submissions and certain strikes in the UFC or other fight promotions seen on tv and people get hurt.Try to find an instructor in martial arts or even boxing to learn proper way to strike.Always research gym or instructor before making decision.Randy Couture said when he started out striking the bag that it hurt and in time it hardened him up.
