whenever I make an attempt to edit a GIF animation image with the help of Photoshop, only one frame is saved, thus the animation is lost. What I'll do to edit the image without affecting the animation?

I don't know if you are on a PC or Mac, but there are freeware progams like GifBuilder (Mac) that you load all of your single frames into and it combines them into an animation. ( Used to be at http:www.download.com ) It also allows an animation to be worked on frame by frame. (Open each image with PS and edit then save the new frame as a replacement to the old.)

Try Jasc Animation shop .. it splits the GIF into frames to edit separately
