With this sort of problem, always remember FOIL - First, Outer, Inner, Last
so x^2 + 5x + 4x + 20

x^2 + 9x +20

Hope this helps!

you see to brackets without a plus or minus sign in between so it implies that you need to be multiplied.
x *(x+5) and +4*(x+5)
so x^2 + 5x + 4x + 20
that is x^2 + 9x + 20.

use the FOIL method
F= multiply the first two
O= multiplythe outer two
I= multiply the inner two
L= multiply the last two
then and your alike terms
Example
(x+4)(x+5)
x^2+5x+4x+20

X^2+9X+20

Okay, I really suck at Algebra, but if I remember right, I think it's:

x to the second power + 5x + 4x + 20.

Simplify that, and it would be:

x to the second power + 9x + 20.

Hope I helped!

this is the wrong section to put this in....

allgebra is so much fun....x is multiplied time x..equals x2..x is then multiplied time 5= 5x...then 4 is multiplied x = 4x and 4 is then multiplied by 5 = 20..see how this works..

answer x2 meaning xsquared +9x+20

distribute... x times x =x to the second
x times 5= 5x
x times 4= 4x
4 times 5= 20
so the answer is x(to the second power) +9x+20
