I think it is because of their liberal bowing down to illegal immigrants. They pay for every service an illegal immigrant wants. Food stamps, medical bills, its like an illegal alien heaven.

In response to Texas basher, Texas has a 15 billion budget surplus, we have a great way of life, great weather, low crime, and few hippies. Austin if full of them, but they are harmless, not to mention affordable housing, affordable college, and great people.

I was in California a few years back, work related. The people were very rude. I did not like it and I was glad to leave. I don't think I will ever return.
My answer to your question. Too many drugs, too much weed. A governor that is not a USC.

Because we are a Republican state and do not have a governor, and citiy mayors who are sympathetic to the illegal alien cause. This has to come from the local and state levels since the US government is far to sympathetic to their cause. I am a citizen the Houston area of Texas. As for the answer about the police officer being killed in Houston, they were already cracking down before this happened. They have a special police force since summer that goes to the corners where the day laborers would meet and send them home if they did not have a valid US identification. If they cannot work, they have no way to support themselves.
The killing of the policeman has made the city officials to put the illegal immigrants felony convictions back into the law enforcement systems that had been deleted. Some official had a brainstorm and decided to removed the convicted felons from the system if they had been deported. This has since been resolved adding those names back, since the killer had been one of those deported only to have returned, thus later committing the crime of killing the police officer.

This could be the reason, read and heed the news.
Texas lawmakers preparing for the next legislative session in January filed bills this week to block state assistance to illegal immigrants and their children and to tax money transfers to Mexico, according to the bills.
Jackie, Texas belongs to the Untied States, two treaties have acknowledged this fact, Mexico lost Texas but they were compensated $15 million via The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and $10 million via the Gadsden Purchase

I live in california and there are a whole lot of undocumented peoples and they destroy america. they over populate los angeles, they go and mess up schools, kill people, take up peoples job, make gangs, they take money and give it back to their home country, they dont pay taxes, they dont speak english, they dont value education, pretty much they ruin america. Los Angeles is the hang out of illegal immigrantsof course there are gangs to hang out, of course easy to commit a crime, hard not to find an illegal immigrant in a community in LA. Los Angeles is also where the gang MS-13 started. Los angles has around 1 million illegal immigrants they want to be in where the gang MS-13 started. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES. GOD BLESS THAT PEOPLE IN SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES DONT COME HERE ILLEGALY AND THAT THEY COME HERE LEGALY.

Here is Houston, they are finally starting to crack down on illegals. Unfortunately it took a memeber of our police department to die for them to finally wake up and see that illegals have been causing senseless deaths since they have been invading.

Huh? Three of the top five poorest cities in the United States are located in Texas. And the dropout rate here stinks. Do you know if you are in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and you call the El Paso Ambulance, they'll still come get you and bring you over for care?
