Flying to Portland next year and need to bring my cane. Do I have to check it or can I bring it onboard?

You can bring the cane on board, you will have to let it go through the X-ray machine at security though. You should book a seat on the plane that is not in the bulkhead row. That's the first row of each section of the plane. Since these seats don't have seats in front of them, all of your carry-on items must go in the overhead bins for the flight which could be a real hassle for you.

you can bring it with you aas long as you notify the airline before your flight. they can ask you to use a wheelchair but I don't think they can force you. they may take it from you while you're in-flight and store it somewhere 'til the flight is over, but my mom has a prosthetic leg and she's been able to fly with her cane on-board.
