I have a huge bag of dried red lentils. I made dal with it a couple years ago and it was great, but I lost the recipe. Can anyone help me out on how to make a good dal with very little meat?

put washed lentils in a pan of cold water to cover, add a drop or two of cooking oil, boil till water is almost absorbed & lentils mushy, for smooth dal, spin this in a liquidiser. Now add chupped tomatoes, cilantro, any vegetable or mixed vegetable of choice, salt, pinch of tumeric & chillie powder to taste, adjust water & cook till vegetables are done, dal is basically vegetarian dish, however bits of any meat can be cooked along with the dal.Final stage is to heat a liile oil add a pinch of mustard seed ,curry leaves to add flavour, when seeds stop spluttering pour over the dal a squeeze of lemon juice adds flacour..red lentils are good in soups, mashed, can thicken gravies too.

crimson Lentil Dahl 2 cups crimson Lentils 5 cups Purified Water 3/4 tsp Turmeric 3” piece of Kombu deliver to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes. get rid of the Kombu and decrease finely. return it to the puree. Lentils will turn to mush as they cook dinner and alter right into a appealing golden yellow shade. it is well-known you have now not performed it incorrect if this occurs. a lot of human beings think of that's an blunders the 1st time they make dahl, notwithstanding that's right I assure you. upload: 2 Tbsps Braggs one million tsp dried Rosemary (pour it into your hand and weigh down it up beforehand putting into the dahl) 4 Tbsps Chives or Scallions finely diced Serve and luxuriate in.
