Initially, no. However, caffine (in coffee) is a pain reliver aide.
Secondly, caffine can thin the blood; which could allow blood flow during a migraine when the blood vessels are constricted. It can, however, cause a rise in blood pressure, when there is a rise in blood pressure during a migraine, too.
Once I tried to drink coffee with a migraine, but it only made it worse. I can also recall drinking coffee, and got a migraine (trigger).
For the most part, it all depends on when you drink it and the cause of the headache, i.e. if you have already been drinking sodas and caught a headache (migraine) is wouldn't help. But, if you take a Tylenol with a cup of coffee, at the on-set of a migraine, coffee may prove to be of some benefit.
Hope this answers you question!

You are having a migraine or just a headache?
I find when I am having one of my migraine coffee does not do it! It hurts to much to drink anything!
It has been my experience that coffee does not help a migrain but does help a headache.....
BTW Reading others responses it is obvious there is no one here yet who have migrains...if you are having a migrain go to the doctors get some REAL drugs, otherwise you are either not having a migrain headache or you are wasting your money on the over the counter meds.....who can eat anything, or drink anything when a migrain has hit?? Oh and who can excises while having one?? People must not have a clue....

Yes it is... The caffeine causes the vessels that are carring blood to the head to contract. which stops the blood from pooling in your head and allows the veins to carry the blood out of the brain as normal. This reduces the pressure and therefore relieves the pain. I have had migraines for many yrs,nad have prescription Imetrex that I take when it is really bad. But if I catch them fast enough an exedrin Migraine formulation and a cup of coffee will do the trick. I also had an experience of going to the ER after having a migraine for 12 days. When they found out I had given up caffeine 5 days before the headache started, they prescribed a pot of Coffee for me. The ER Dr. explained that due to the mechanics of a migraine headache and how the circulatory system works, some people simply have to have a small amount of caffeine to avoid migraines. I was advised not to give up my caffeine

LOL, who can exercise when they have a bad headache? Not me, I just want to lay in bed.
I don't think coffee is the best way to go. It may help some people but it doesn't apply to everyone. The best solution I have found is Excedrin Migraine, and Head On. Head On is the stick that you rub on your forehead and it is a LIFESAVER. Put it on, lay down and relax. Gets rid of my headache everytime. I've heard nothing but good things.

NO
Certain foods can trigger a vascular headache. No food will cause everybody's headache, but many migraine sufferers cannot deny that there are foods that do aggravate their problem. The most common offenders are: nuts, chocolate, coffee, sauerkraut, wheat, cheese and other dairy products, hot dogs, luncheon meats that contain nitrites, citrus, MSG, and alcohol (especially red wine). Sadly, many salad bars keep vegetables fresh looking by using sulfites, chemicals that can cause or exacerbate a headache.

Actually caffeine doesn't help a headache in the long run even though medicines specifically for headaches like excedrine have caffeine in them...now I'm not saying stop drinking coffee...everyone has their own path in life and i respect peoples right to choose...but to get rid of a headache i would suggest some 8 hour tylenol...that will take a headache to the curb...

Well, coffee is effective against headaches for certain people, but I would not recommend it. The most effective treatment for most headaches is EXERCISE. Go outside for a jog and give your brain some fresh air. The migraine will be gone in no time.

NO caffeine can aggravate migraines and can cause rebound headaches. People with migraines should avoid all caffeine until the cause of the headaces is known.
