I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE BIRD TOYS OUT OF NUTS BUT THE BIGGER THE DRILL BIT THE NUT SEEMS TO CRACK & BREAK.

Using wire is OK but do not use copper or galvanized these are harmful to birds, a stainless steel is best if not just a plain steel. but ensure that they are clean and Free from oils or dirt's before making your toys with them.

I've raised 7 parrots over the last 5 years. 2 nearly strangled on fish line and a scredded rope perch before I got smart and don't use those anymore.

I only use stainless steel around my birds now. Don't be tempted to use galvanized anything or keys because they contain heavy metals that are poisonous. Home Depot has supplies of stainless wire and mesh that are good.

No, the bird might strangle itself with the wire or string, rather get treats/toys from the pet stores, or use wood instead of the nuts.

you can use a very thin copper wire.

use dried corn on the cob, nuts, or you can even make your own congloption out of peanut butter, corn syrup and seeds.
