Good luck. I had a young friend who had the same dilemma. His parents finally folded and bought the car for him. Before they made the first payment on the car he totalled it.
They are cool cars but not toys. It's hard to convince young kids that.

you sort of have to convince them, by explaining why it means alot to you. Try connecting the mustang to something that is important to them. That way they'll see it's good purpose.
