Given the way in which imams in the UK are preaching a version of Islam that is medieval and detrimental to tolerance, and the equality of women and the notion of Jihad. Should Christians, Hindus, Jews etc view this religion as a cancer that is a danger to the democratic way we want to live.
Given that muslims seem to want to be viewed as special and not obey the laws of the land?? Should this cancer be excised from the West or tolerated??

Don't stereotype all Muslims by what you see some of them doing on tv!!! Islam is not a cancer, ignorant people like you are the cancer. You preach hate, stereotyping, and intolerance. There are so many things going on in the world we all need to stand togethert united despite our different colors and religions!!!

Not all in fact very few Imams preach the medieval ethics that you speak of . Not all muslims in fact very few want to be viewed as special and very few do not obey the laws of the west . Islam has been present in Western society for a long time and was never seen as a cancer but terrorism has made people so terrified. THe extremism of religion is what is a cancer and should be feared not just Islamic religion but Christianity Hinduism Judaism and every single major religion in the world

I would say the Christian church. Islam didn't contribute anything, but many muslim people made important contributions by preserving greek knowledge and developing it further. They also transferred knowledge from India (including our present numeral system). Lastly there are some cultural influences, such as architecture and stories. The Christian church preserved quite a lot of knowledge through the dark ages, mainly in monasteries. They were also major patrons of art, both architecture, sculpture, paintings and music. Quite a lot of the other patron of art were also religious (or at least presented themselves that way), so much of western culture has christian influences. It should however not be forgotten that both religions have been repressive, and continue to be so! After a short "Golden Age" in the Middle Ages Islam has mostly been a repressive force, and has stood against social and scientific development in the same way as the Christian church.

As a Muslim I think your views are typical of a lot of modern western thinking. How could you proclaim that any group of people is a cancer? How would you know first hand how the women of Islam are treated> I have never been forced to do anything, never been shut up, never been demonized by any one other than people who dont understand Muslims. Muslims are taught to obey the laws of the land that they are in. We are adviced to learn the language of the land we dwell in. But God comes first to us, and God's laws. Our scripture has not been changed since it was first written. Not one single word has been changed. If you view that as medieval, so be it. I see it as not continuously conforming to an ever changing society. The basics of Islam remain the same: Pray to God, don't have sex without marraige, respect your family, keep your body and your surroundings clean, and know that God has power over everything. If this is a cancer than I'm afraid I have it.

i think u have the wrong end of the wrong stick (i'm "christian")

u've given us the type of perspective of muslims that shows that it isnt based on observation but stereotyping. this is a by-product of extremist activity and so many condemning news reports, which are fueled by fear and have perverted the truth 2 support their fear.

most muslims i've met are so close 2 the goal of most of the spiritual teachers (jesus, guru nanak, buddha, etc) that its remarkable. these guys are genuinely positive and happy about Life.

there indivuals who misrepresent people that follow God, and i think its only accurate 2 assess these people separately.

peace an blessins:-)

Islam is a religion that will be conquered by the white horseman of the apocolypse. It is worship of an evil ape-like creature named Allah and his cohort Muhammad. They preach terrorism and violence throughout the world and will eventually end up in hell if they don't repent of their ways.
