Don't quite understand where you're coming from. Never heard of the chicken people or king chicken. Sounds foul (fowl) to me.
Of course the chicken could have killed the pig thus.
The pig was asking 'Why did the chicken cross the road?' The chicken said 'Come on, I'll show you.' The pig followed the chicken which, craftily, waited until a truck was coming and ran across the road followed by the pig. The pig was too slow and got run over by the truck.

I don't understand, your questions asks "why did the pig die from a chicken?" which infers that a pig died as a direct result from the action of the chicken. Then you say the "chicken people" killed the pig. So the question of the joke should have been, "Why did the pig die from the chicken people?" And no matter how the joke is told it in not funny, just very fowl.
