Unless you are otherside of the US there are only TWO sizes of dachshunds. Standard and Miniature. The kaninchen or "rabbit" size is ONLY recognized by FCI kennel clubs. The American, Canadian and UK KCs do NOT recognize this third size. Anyone in the US selling a "toy" dachshund is not a reputable breeder. Miniatures tend to be under 11lbs while standards are usually between 15-32lbs Height - up to 14 for Miniatures 14-18 for Standards. ETA: Wyr I am aware of the fact the standard only addresses weight. That doesn't meant people don't keep track of the overall height of the breed and I never said an 18inch dachshund was a well bred one now did i?

7 to 11 lbs, that is the weight area a mini should be. Not to exceed 11 lbs. I have a mini dachshund puppy, he's amazing, and smart.

They are just little things. I would guess no bigger then ten pounds. You should get one. I was going to get one for my next dog, but I ended up getting a rott that was at a bad home. when i do get one i am going to name her hot dog, or maybe frankie.
