Hydrogen Bombs are the most powerful type. They are powered by fusion instead of fission. Castle Bravo was the biggest bomb ever detonated by Western Powers. The test was 1st March 1954 at Bikini Atoll. It yielded 15 megatons

The Hydrogen bomb is the most powerful nuclear weapon. The U.S.S.R exploded the "Tsar Bomba" a hydrogen bomb the was 100 megatons in explosive power. Your can increase the explosive yield in these weapons to make even more powerful nukes. Although it is no country was done so. The Cobalt fission Bomb is a Nuclear device with heavy cobalt element wrapped around the core when exploded leaves radioactive fallout that lasts for about 7 years. This would be a doomsday weapon. You could also make a similar weapon using gold wrapped around the explosive bomb core. This would work with plutonium, or uranium bomb cores. No country is believe to have these in their nuclear weapon arsenals. I would most be concerned with a suitcase nuke these days, If terrorists got a hold on one.

Nukes are not rated by "types"
They are rated in power/size...Usually in equivalent tons of explosive power of TNT...
1kiloton = 1000 tons of TNT
1megaton = 1 million tons of TNT...
A 10 kiloton nuclear device would have the explosive power
of 10,000 tons of TNT....
And so on and so forth...

I've found that strapping two nukes together with duct tape will get any job done, without any messing about - if that don't work then use a black hole.

homework questions should be looked up at the library, as for this question-->how do we know you're not some terrorist asking a question like that? not that i'm saying you are--maybe you should do a different project.
