POSITIONING = Segmentation + Differentiation

Segmentation: who will pay for a Hershey Kiss? Why would they buy a Kiss over some other chocolate? Likely due to quality and 'ease of use' - a Kiss is much easier to eat than opening a larger chocolate bar and somehow saving the part you didn't eat!

Differentiation: why are Kisses better than other chocolate? Likely because of the quality of the chocolate as well as the brand name of Hershey's. People know the brand. It's got a solid reputation.

The more tangible the product, the more important it is to have intangible differentiation. Clearly, Kisses are tangible so it's even more important to have a strong brand (which is intangible)

A picture of one between your breasts with a rose between your teeth and the slogan: Which one would you pick for Christmas or Valentine's day? You see' it's a perfect trick question...the answerer is damned if they do and damned if they don't...if they pick the chocolate, they're selfish and if they pick the rose, they will always wonder, "what if?"...so, they will then have to buy both! see everyone wins...the Florist's all over the planet, Hershey's by default, women all over the world by receiving "2 birds with one stone" theory...and us men who get to see you with a "kiss" between your bodaceous ta-tas & a rose clenched firmly against your lips while we all enjoy the fruits of your marketing savvy like one, big happy family all over the planet...or at least where they sell flowers & hershey's kisses & you decide to where to place your marketing campaign!...Can't wait, keep up the good work. Mmmmmm, like Forest Gump always says, "life's like a box of chocolates!"
