white/red cables? What about the .1 channel? Or do I need a special set of cables? Thanks!

A regular set of RCA interconnect cables
will get the job done. However, the better quality
the more this high resolution format will be realized.

Here's what you will need for an analog audio connection...

- Six interconnect cables with RCA (any colors)
- One subwoofer interconnect cable with RCAs

Here's a superb brand that I been using for years that offers one
of the best values that I know of. Far better sound quality than
the "popular" Monster Cable... I've also included a dealer that
I am familiar with that has great service and excellent deals.

You should be connecting the player to the HDMI input of your receiver. If you do not have HDMI, then you should use component for video (red, green, blue connectors) and digital output (optical or coax) for audio. These are the only ways to get 5.1 sound. the reciever will take care of all the channels, including the LFE (".1" channel.

Depends on your receiver and what connections it will accept.
HDMI would be the connection of preference, then a digital connection(Optical or coaxial) would be the next connection preference. RCA (red, white) would ne last choice. All of these connections should carry all audio signal including the bass or .1.
