What do you mean, first? We lie to women from day 1, right through to the day of the divorce/funeral. All you New Age twonks out there know I am telling the truth, and it doesn't matter if you don't want it to be true - we men lie to women all day, each day every day. We lie to you because we don't want you to know what we've been up to, of course, but a lot of the time we lie to you because that's what you want. You've decided what you want to hear and we just feed it out to you. We also lie to you with empty flattery because that's the best way of getting your knickers off. We lie to you a lot because it's the line of least resistance - it's easier to come up with some stupid line of bollocks than it is to get into an argument with you about trivia. We lie to you and we are going to keep on lying to you until the end of time. Take it or leave it.

Yes, and most of them will continue to be liars for quite some time if not forever.
I would think using a little common sense would make it obvious but often women are too caught up in the flattery to see it.
I think while women want honesty from men too many times it is the guy who puts on the best show that gets the most attention and being honest and open from the beginning gets you ignored.
If you find a guy who's honest up front maybe you should cut him just a little more slack and consider that he might be worth a second look...otherwise you're just encouraging the "showmen".

Not all the time. If you start getting chatted up 5mins before the pub closes then probably. Both sexes try to put their best side forward when they meet each other. We have all told a few white lies when we meet someone new as we really want them to like us and its not always a good idea to disclose absolutely everything that you have done in your past. We cant class everyone we meet to be liars. There are good and bad out there.

It depends on the person. Some will be liars; but some will just put their best foot forward (hopefully). I think everybody attempts to show the best side of him or herself on a first meeting. Hopefully that doesn't involve all-out lying, but it could.

Why just say men? Women do the same!
I wouldn't call it lying - it's just that when you first meet someone that you may have 'an interest' in, you tend to show yourself to your best advantage - who wouldn't. so therefore, you dwell on what you see as your good points, and skim what you feel are your bad points!
It's human nature, we all want to mate ;)

Yes - I know a guy I met who was trying to be freinds with me saying he was really into history and like the times of Oliver Cromwell, which he knew I was interested in
It wasn't convincing since he was Irish and Catholic! In fact it backfired on him cause I thought it was weird!

One its depends on the guy. Alot of guys who are just after one thing just lie away to get the date and the pants down.
However, there are other guys that do differently because they feel that it's easier not to lie.
