When doing blood tests the red blood cells are counted (RBC), the hemoglobin (HGB) is measured, and the HCT is measured. The HCT is said to have a normal range of 39.6 to 49.6. What does the HCT stand for? Second question: If the RBC, HGB, and HCT are all low, can this result in anemia, which symptoms would be lacking energy and pallor? (The RBC is 4.02 (normal is 4.3-5.9), HGB is 13.3 (normal is 13.4-17.0), and HCT is 37.7 (normal is 39.6-49.6).

HCT = hematocrit, % of packed red blood cells in total blood volume. Normal range for a male is 43-49%. For women it is 37-43%.
Anemia results from an overall decrease in RBC's, HGB, & HCT. Symptoms are fatigue, headache, dizziness, pallor, palpitations, lack of appetite.
Severe anemia would include a HGB of <7-8. Your values are much better.
Your doctor will suggest the proper treatment. Increase your iron intake. HGB needs iron in order to provide oxygen to your body's cells. Without this, you exhibit the above symptoms.

HCT stands for hematocrit, or packed cell volume. This is the percentage of blood volume occupied by red blood cells, after centrifuging a blood sample in a special tube.Low RBC count, HCT and hemoglobin indicate anemia. However, the levels you have given are practically at the lower limit of the normal value, so I would interpret it as normal. Nothing to be concerned about.
