If it is an OTC product there is a lot wrong with it and it shouldn't even be used on your pets. OTC products contain very high concentrations of pesticides. These pesticides are chemicals used on lawns and need to be used with proper hazzmat precautions when people use them. Don't use any OTC flea products on your pets they can cause neurological issues, seizures and death.

This is your standard legalese to keep the maker from getting sued if you get sick from it. The key ingredient in the flea and tick shampoo is pesticide, so it is poisonous. However if you read the 'Active Ingredient' on the label, it is ussually less than 1% pesticide, so it is pretty harmless unless you get alot (like 20 bottles worth) on you. They do this to protect themselves in case of someone who is alergic or something. Also if you read the instructions it says to wear gloves, so if you don't, they will point out in court that you didn't follow the directions for safe ussage, making it your fault you got sick LOL.

You might want to think of it this way - if you aren't supposed to get it on YOUR skin - do you really want to put it on your dog's?
Some of the dog/cat flea and tick products have been linked to neurologic injury to the animal (seizures, balance disorders, paralysis), and sometimes, even death.
Check with your vet about a safe product to use - safe for BOTH of you.
