If they like dogs, okay. I would contact and ask first.
As others have said, to bring in a living thing that may be rejected is a horrible thing to do to a animal.
My Little Abbey (40 pound lab mix) came from a lady whose mother HATED dogs. This poor thing, at a year old had only a teeny bit of contact twice a day, and lived alone in the fenced garden.
She was a just over a year old when we came together. Now 10;5 years later, she is happily the canine queen of my house, and goes out only to exercise and for bodily functions (a large, fenced garden is her domain).
She is sweet, loving, and has the sweet, loving home she deserves.
Sweetheart, think of the dog first, and see what Mum and Popsy say first.
I hope it works out and you can get and happily keep him or her.

I dont think it would be a great idea to get a dog when your parents are away , you would be very upset if they made you take it back and the poor dog wouldnt be very happy either, why not research all about keeping a dog and show it to ypur parents this would be alot more grown up . if they say no why not advertise to talk other peoples dogs for a walk , no food bills and you will get paid as well

Pets are not toys or a new cell phone or a new pair of shoes. One of the AKC's slogans was "Look before you leap, a pet is for keeps". Meaning... that a dog has an 8-12 year lifespan depending on their breed and size, and if your lifestyle situation changes in 3 months, 2 years, 5 years and you can't keep the dog... WHAT THEN???

Dogs are not disposable - well, I guess too many people nowadays think they are that's why the rescue groups and shelters are overflowing and so many are killed each year because no one wants them. Do not get a dog (or any pet for that matter) on an impulse, the pet will pay for it - possibly with it's life - later :-(

You must consider what will happen to the dog when they tell you to get rid of it. If they wanted a dog you wouldn't have to wait until they are away and ask us. Sounds like your parents need to be wary about leaving you HOME ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!

no wait until you get your own house, a dog is not just for company while your parents are away its for life.

Depends on your age! Do you want your parents to freak! You could get this dog and say you found it and it has no home but your best bet would be to ask your folks!

nah, I wouldn't without their permission because they could easily say no and then take your beloved dog back... I recall the time when I painted my room when my parents were away... they weren't too pleased when they returned...

No - what will you do if they say No when they get home. Poor little dog will then have to go to a rescue centre or worse. Wait until you have their agreement xx
