Not necessarily. Kittens will usually use a litter box from the first time they step into one. Even if she had a previous owner, there's a good chance she was dumped. Give her a good home!

Its very good of you to take the we kitten into your home. It sounds like it does have a home, maybe you could print some posters up and put them in your local shop. Mean while you hold on to the kitten and make sure if the owner does pick it up that you tell them not to let it out again, Thumbs up for you

No, it doesn't mean that she belonged to someone.
I have four cats, two of them had been stray all of their lives...one was 4 years old when we brought her in and the other was 1 and 1/2 when we brought him in.
Neither of them had ever seen a litter box let alone used one...but they both used it right off the bat.

Most...not all...but most cats will dig to cover their waste so that's probably why a cat who's never used a litter box will go to a litter box to do it's business.

If she let you pet her right off the bat that probably indicates she has had some human contact and isn't a feral. But I did catch one feral kitten that was just as happy as a clam to come in the house and stake a claim. Most of the feral kittens I have caught in the past have been raging balls of fury and you could not touch them.

Cats know the smell of a litter box and pretty much know how to use it from day 1, if you think he or she has an owner put up flyers, if you haven't seen a flyer for a missing cat then I would assume he was dumped and now you have a new kitty to love!

Most kittens will use the litter box without using one before but call around and be sure that it is not a lost kitten. Also if you are going to keep it and u have other cats be sure to take it to the vet to be sure it does not have a disease it could pass on to your other cats............trust me this happened to me this week, i found a kitten and like i always do i took him to the vet before bringing him home just to be safe and found out that he had feline leukemia and that he could have given it to my other kitten!

"Does this mean she already has an owner?" It could or maybe someone put it out. Run a found add in the paper. My local paper doesn't charge for a lost and found add.

No cats naturally dig and bury their elimination efforts. You might put up pictures in the market to see if she does have an owner.
