I guess it depends on the individual and what they expect from a job. I know garbage men that love their jobs, even though they are out in the cold/wet/hot weather and come home smelling like an outhouse.
Personally, I'd say being a Dentist would be the best job because they don't generally do a whole lot all the time. Sure they have their responsibilities, but it seems to me that every time I go to the dentist, the hygenists or assistants do most of the work, then the dentist comes in and checks it out. It also seems that the two or three times my dentist has diagnosed something wrong, he's refered me to an Oral Surgeon (or even Orthodontist). The pay is good too.
The worst job for me would be a nurse. While they get paid more than the average dental nurse, they put up with long hours, cranky doctors, and obnoxious patients. They are also responsible for most of the grunt work on the hospital floor. While there are orderlies and such to clean up messes, the nurses are still dealing with more crap than I'd want to.

Um...well, i'm a dentist, so I say:
dentist, orthodontist, dental nurse, cosmetic surg, and nurse.
But this is apples and oranges. If you say "dental nurse" i'm kind of assuming you're British, but maybe not... anyway, I dont' know about education times in Europe.
In America, after high school, if you want to be a dentist it would require 8 more years of education. 11 more for an orthodontist or other dental specialist as that training is 2-4 years after your doctorate is earned.
for Cosmetic surgeon, you've got the 8 years of school, plus a few more years of residency then a few years of internship... Ha, i was watching Dr 90210 on cable last night and some guy who looked to be late 30s was JUST getting to practice w/o the other doctor looking over his shoulder and he said 19 years of post secondary education...so he'd be 37, yes.
Dental hygienists can get a degree in 2-4 years; nurses are at least four years.
So, factor all that into consideration. How long do you want to stay in school? Quite frankly, how smart are you? Can you handle pressure?
As a rule, the more education you get, the more money you make, but also you go into debt to get student loans. Like most dentists, I make a great living, but I have about $120,000 in debt, so that's a big payment each month!
Lastly, the "best" job is the best for you; what you like the most, not what is the most money. Most of the nurses I know are AMAZING people and do great work and think that I'M insane for being a dentist, so it's all relative!

I'm a nurse & I'll tell you why its the worst job.
1. The NHS owe me 2 years of back pay.
2. The shifts roll 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
3. They are lots of hideous jobs involving all types of bodily excretions.
4. Have you seen the uniforms
5. Doctors always leave you to do the uncomfortable jobs, explain **** ups and clean up.
6. People blame you for everything simple because you're the visible front for a failing service.
As you can probably tell its an emensely satisfying job!!

surgeon is definitely the best, makes about 10x what the others make, does the least work. orthodontist is a close 2nd.
dentist makes alot of money, but they have to stick their fingers in some pretty stinky mouths (think of a bum, they have to smell bad bum breath every day.)
I'm sure being a nurse isn't that great, but the money is decent, not nearly what a doctor's pay is. They work alot harder too, and all the responsibility is pushed to the nurse, not the doctor.

I know im gonna praise my ortho for giving me a beautiful smile♥
plus they both pay great!
I would say nurse is worst cuz they have to see everything [[idk if your into that]] and they dont pay as much

yeah nurse! they have do deal with everything , know everything about everything, put up with doctors and crap pay, learn and study for ever, always come under alot of pressure, deal with the happy and sad patients and their families then go home and get on with thoughts of what they have seen when cooking dinner or shopping or anything to do with normal life...but i would think that it can be also one of the best feelings...delivering the babies, saving someone, knowing that what you go through will save someone where ever you are, being part of such an important job and responsibility of our lives...we need them.x
