Am helping a friend plan a Christmas theme wedding for next year. What details and touches would you incorporate?
They are having the ceremony at the reception site.

Would you serve a traditional Christmas dinner? Have a tree and stocking for gifts and cards instead of the usual gift table? What kind of favors if any would you have? Would you play Christmas music during dinner? Add any other suggestions.
Those are the types of things I'm asking.

We planned our wedding, in six weeks, for the week before Christmas. We also had the ceremony at the reception site. First, you should see if the site will already be decorating for the holidays. Ours did and it saved us so much money. We served Roast Beef and Chicken family style (trays were brought to the tables and people served themselves). The guys wore silver vests and the girls wore apple red. Our cake was white with a silver ribbon wrapped around it. For our wedding favors I purchased 150 small silver bells with hearts on the top that also doubled as placecard holders. We also had a friend bake us gingerbread men and woman and "dressed" them up with tuxes and dresses (using basic frosting). The bells were perfect for those guests who are obsessed with having the bride and groom kiss every ten seconds! I think it would be a great idea to do a christmas theme. It always seems to put people in great spirits and we got some amazing pictures in front of the decorated christmas tree.

Although I'm Jewish, I LOVE the idea of a Christmas wedding! I think you can do whatever you want and play up the Christmas theme any way you want to, but if you're not as into the red and green thing, you can lean more towards the winter thing. With a few hints about Christmas thrown in, everyone will get what you're driving at. There are lots and lots of wedding books with winter wedding theme ideas. Snowflakes, blue and white decorations, silver glitter, a horse and carriage to take you to and from the ceremony, serving warm punch (especially if it's cold), and candy canes are just some of the ideas I can think of right now. I say go with it and check out the books for ideas!

A wedding i went to last year we had table favors made from gingerbread in the shapes of hearts with names on them in icing and a ribbon so you could hang it from the Christmas tree, maybe you could have them in the shape of stockings with the guests names on you can also save on name places around the table, two birds one stone. May be have some mistletoe decorating the top table, cake and cake table. Design table plan with Holly and ivy. Good luck, planning a wedding is so much fun

ooooh...there is so much you could do! i like the idea of the tree instead of a gift table (i am a wedding planner). you could also do your gifts/placecards as ornaments on the tree...that way using the tree for multiple things. or just give away ornaments as gifts for the guests.
for centerpieces you could to so many thing also...such an easy theme to work with. you could do candles for centerpieces, with silver bells at the base.
for the ceremony for you could use a garland that looks like pine to put on the ends of the aisles of chairs.
good luck...there are really so many things you can do with this theme! if you need help, i would be glad to help w/ ideas!
