First of all, you need a very strong basic obedience foundation. You must have a strong bond with your dog for basic things before you can ask him to do more advanced things like being a guard dog. You especially need to have excellent bite inhibition instilled in this dog. He needs to be extremely well socialized and able to decipher right from wrong or you will have a literal time bomb on your hands. If you try to take any shortcuts with his training you may pay for it either in court or in blood, seriously. Talk to some trainers, if you have a police K-9 unit in your town/city, talk to the officer. It is NOT an easy process, and in the hands of an amateur, it can be deadly!

the 1st question meant to ask ought to be: " Is my dogs the spectacular dogs for guarding? " only for the reason that's a Rottweiler would not consistently recommend it has the shield dogs genetics. maximum police dogs at the instant are not basically raised to be a shield dogs. in certainty, they have been examined as a domestic dog to confirm if their temperament is desirable to be a shield dogs. exams like noise exams which includes dropping a vase (letting it shatter) and spot the dogs's reaction. some could bark intensely on a similar time as others lower back off. it is only between the exams between the others! stable success !

It should come naturally to him. German Shepherds make very good watch dogs. I have a 5 mth old pitbull and I didn't have to teach him anything..he just started barking at people who would walk by our house or came to the door. :)

It comes naturally. Most dogs will protect their own territory. However, some breeds are more prone than others. I have dogs that would not only show the burglar where my valuable are but also hold the flashlight for them.
