I'm scheduled to have outpatient surgery on Monday, Nov. 27. I just inherited my husbands head cold, will this cause my surgery to be cancelled?

Usually, elective planned surgeries are not taken, when there is a respiratory infection, whether it's a active cold or lung infection. Since u're having enough time, it can be controlled well before ur planned date with adequate medicines.

You should be over the worst part of it by then, maybe even entirely. You don't say what procedure you are having done or what type of anesthesia, which could have some bearing on it.

My feeling at this point is: if this does not get worse, or become sinusitis (infection in the sinuses) or you are having rhinoplasty, it probably won't be problematic.

On Tuesday of this next week, you might want to phone the doctor's office and leave a message about your cold and ask him to return your call, IF he thinks rescheduling would be advised.

Best wishes on your procedure.

It should but that decision lies with the team that will operate on you, And the hospitals S.O.P. and what forn of surgery that they have to preform on you.

it could...it depends on what meds you are taking...i would ask your doctor and tell him/her what you have taken and if it would interact with the anesthetic
