I Have 1996 Dodge Neon,4 cycl engine.SOHC.But where my plugs go, there is oil that leaks out of that. Why is it? It leaks out of the 1st, 3rd, 4th plug. The runs great, has 117,755 miles, but I would like to know what causes this so maybe I can have it fixed. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Your valve cover gasket is leaking. Well not necessarily your valve cover gasket but gaskets which go around the spark plug holes. They are on top of the hole and can only be changed by changing the valve cover gasket. Did that make any sense?

If not then just go to your mechanic and tell him to change the valve cover gasket. Or if you're a do-it-yourselfer just buy a valve cover gasket, it comes with those other gaskets.

Speaking of gaskets, this vehicle has a reputation for oil leaks. However, my 6 years of experience with my '95, saw one minor leak - the cam position sensor gasket. Since you will be changing the rocker arm gasket, take this opportunity to search for, and correct any other oil leaks. You will be glad you did.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Neon. Sounds like it's the valve cover gasket. Not too terribly expensive (less than a car payment anyway).

you may need to get a new valve cover gasket. I would change this quickly because the oil will attract dirt which will make your engine run hotter.
