Sometimes intestinal problems in kittens wipe out the bacteria they need to digest food. Get some Dannon yogurt, vanilla or plain, and feed him 1 ml (1/4 tsp) three times/day. Don't use Activia. And call your vet if he's not better by tomorrow. Good Luck!!

Diarreah can be a sign of many things, but as others have said it can be very bad for kittens if not treated properly. Wormers are often needed for kittens but can also be very dangerous in and of themselves as they are harsh chemicals. Your kitten needs to probably be seen again and I also suggest a second opinion with a homeopathic vet if possible. My vet did very little in the way of treating it except giving a anti-diarreah medication which didnt work. I treated my kitten who almost died with plenty of fluids, supportive care, and an herbal remedy. Try wolfcreekranch.com for more info. Also, using an oral dropper, try boiling 4 c water and adding teaspoon salt. Then shut the water off and add 2 c oatmeal. Add 1/4 honey to this and wait about 10 minutes. Drain the fluid from the mixture into a glass and give every cpl of hours using an oral dropper. This is a natural electrolyte replacement for kittens with severe diarreah. Just remember, fluids, fluids, fluids! Your kitten should also be fed every few hours as there sugar levels drop very rapidly, that is why honey is used in the above mixture as well. A quality catfood in addition to something like boiled chicken thighs (boneless), and/or raw liver (yes it is grose but they will eat it) is also very beneficial. Be careful about giving too much rice as others have suggested as cats are natural carnivores and require very little carbohydrates. I know this is long but i hope it helps, and dont give up. My kitten is now 6 months old and thriving!

Try giving him a few teaspoons of plain, unsweetened yogurt(NOT the kind with artificial sweeteners),a few times a day,and some well-cooked rice mixed in his food.I once had a kitten who's gut was so ravaged by worms that it took her 6 months to get over her diarrhea. You might also ask your vet to put the kitten on a course of Metronidazole;it is an antibiotic that is used for inflammatory bowel disease in animals and it really helps. It's very safe as well.

I would call the vet to see what they think, or if you got the kitten from the pound you could call there. Also there is special food made for kittens, you could try that. Our cats did that too when we first got them. It can take alot out of them to get adjusted to a new environment. Also stick to dry food, but to see if she'll eat, you can mix it with a little bit of the soft food. She may like the smell more. But don't perminately switch her to the soft, as they need to keep their teeth strong, and it is good for them to eat the hard food.

I would suggest that you recall your vet and give him an update. Such a tiny kitten will dehydrate easily. You didn't say what the "treatment" was, but I would think in 4 days, you should have seen improvement.

Find out what kind of food the sanctuary fed the kitten. At times, cats could get the diarrhea from a change in their diet. Try feeding the kitten the same food the sanctuary did, and see if that helps.

I had a kitten with diarhoea. You could consider changing its diet as I had to boil rice and minced meat for several days before it cleared. The rice acts as a diarhoea stopper.

You should call the vet for advice. Ongoing diarrhea can kill a little kitten quickly due to loss of fluid and electrolyte imbalance. Please call as soon as you can!
