We just got a 4month old schnauzer puppy, I don't know how long it takes for her to adjust, or how normal it is for her to sleep most of the day. I don't think she is sick, her breeder had her vet checked before we bought her and she acts fine. Just depressed or sleepy.

I"ve read that dogs sleep an average of 14 hours per day. It's just how they are. Don't worry. If your dog is depressed, she'll never play or eat or anything. If that's the case, try taking her on more walks to see if she'll perk up. Otherwise go see your vet to rule out anything being physically wrong.
Even though she was vetted before you got her, it's a good idea to take her to your vet soon. This way the vet meets the dog and you establish a relationship with a vet before something goes really wrong. You don't want to have to find a new vet when your puppy is sick.. just adds to the stress.

Don't ever trust a breeder to tell you if the dog they sold you is sick. This is your dog now , take it to your trusted vet asap. Pups will sleep about 20 out of 24 hours a day for the first 9 weeks. At four months I would hope you have already had it vet checked. This dog should be only actually sleeping 12 hours. Napping off and on also.

A Puppy sleeps as long as it needs to. My German Shepherd Puppy sleeps for like 30-60 Minutes. He doesn't sleep much. Dogs are also Really Playful.. Especially Puppies! Puppies are always napping, especially when first born. My Pup is 7 weeks old, but doesn't sleep much...

i have a 5 mth old pitbull and he sleeps ALOT! He will get up for like 3 hrs then go back to sleep again for another 2 hours, and he'll do this all day. Puppies need to sleep alot because that is when they grow, when their sleeping. :)

At first it could be a mix of depression and sleepiness, because he\she may miss their mommy and other litter mates. But sleeping is not abnormal for young puppies.

its okay,she's just a puppy. all puppies do is sleep and eat. they get worn out very quickly in the time that they're awake. don't worry,she's not sick;trust your vet.

puppies sleep constantly, ive just sold four as my dogs had babies, their daily routine was play sleep eat sleep play sleep, sleep sleep every single day nothing is wrong with the pup, thats just their routine.
