To answer your question, I think the majority of non Christians, react negatively to the arrogance inherent in the religion. The very idea that "this is the only way" is shockingly simplistic and does not reflect our environment in any way, shape or form. It would be like saying, "the only real tree on the planet is the oak. All others are false trees."
And regarding your desire to help? Your need to guide us away from the maw of hell and into the gates of heaven? Would it not be a good idea to first prove beyond any doubt that these two post mortem locations exist? And to be able to do so from legitimate sources other than the bible? And if you are unable to prove the existence of heaven or hell using multiple accepted sources...
Isn't your desire to help similar to someone trying to help a man with no arms to learn to drive a car? The amputee would look at you like you've lost your mind. And there it is in a nutshell. Those who have looked at Christianity but have walked away because they are unable with their reasoning minds to accept the mythology inherent within the pages of the bible, look at you like you've lost your mind when you try and "help" us behind the wheel of the Christian car. What you are trying to do, what you are in fact doing, is nothing short of madness.

I don't have anything against Christians. In fact, two of my very good friends are a crippled Christian minister who has taught me more about life in his years in a small town than I have learned by being out in the world; and a sort of Sunday School teacher for adults. He and I share our problems of the world, and constantly get into philosophical debates.
And in turn, they are respectful to me and my beliefs. You see, I'm agnostic. It's not that I don't care... It's that I don't know enough about things to make a decision about what I want to believe.
However, there are many Christians missing the messages within their own religion: tolerence, respect and compassion. You can't force a belief on someone just because you think it's "right." Not all of us "flip out" when you try to "help" us. (I don't know what you mean by the word "help," since it can imply just about anything in this case)
I find philosophical discussions fascinating, even those regarding religion. I fancy myself a bit of a religious scholar at times (since I know a lot about various religions). Present your friends with this type of discussion. If the person is hot-headed about religion, then you could point out some of their beliefs, and yes, even find merits in them (because there are merits to be found in every religion and belief, including atheism).
Hope that helps.

well, you more or less answer your own question. many many people consider it rude when a stranger presumes to know what's what between them and God. regardless of what Christians may believe of themselves they are not privy to the spiritual development of others. if Christians would mind their own souls and business there'd be a whole lot less angst directed at them.
but methinks that Christians enjoy the angst they provoke since it implies to them that Jesus' "you shall be persecuted" prophesy is being fulfilled. the more anger their arrogance invokes the more righteously holy they are.

I have a lot of respect for Christians, but they have one of the only faith's that come knocking on your door. Their religion is beautiful and most of the people are intelligent and devout. I dont have any problems with them as long as they dont tell me I will go to hell for following a faith other than theirs.

Well I make it a habit not to try to 'help' people who don't ask for it. I do not like it when someone tries to do so to me and that is what some, not all christians, do when they try to tell me they are trying to save me before it's too late. Remember not everyone does think nor wants to think in the same vein as you do.

Look at your question. That is why we freak out. You are pushing your beliefs on others that don't believe what you believe. I don' t need to be "saved". There is no heaven, there is no hell. Now, I'm sure you are freaking out right about now, aren't you? That feeling you have now, is how we feel when you do stupid crap like your question.

You answered your own question. There is nothing worse that an ''holier than thou'' Christian who thinks he has all the answers.
How can you think G-d would come to earth in human form? That is ridiculous. G-d is One. He was, and is, and forevermore shall Be-------One.

We grow impatient of these delusions, and of being hassled by evangelists.
There is no such thing as god, any more than there is such a thing as Shiva. They both have just as much evidence for their existance.
