Hey christians, I have a question for you. Why is it that some christians use and follow the New Testament only and exclude the Old Testament or the Torah.

{Note: Now I am aware that some christians in the world use only the New Testament because that is the only portion of the bible that is presently available in their language. Those are not the christians I am talking about. I am asking about the christians who do have the Old Testament available in their language, however do not regard it and read only the New testament}

Both books are silly, and it is hard enough to give lip service to just one.

The Old Testament is valid. God created us (Genesis) We as christians do follow both, but it is through the blood of Christ that we are saved. The OT was the convenant that God made with the Jews (they were His chosen people) but because of the lack of faith, He made a new covenant in the NT for all people, Jew and Gentiles. This is the new covenant, that all people be saved through the blood of Christ. He gave the rest of the world a chance at salvation.

Christians do not necessarily exclude the old testament or Torah[by the way good research]it is just that Christ created a new way[by his blood]to know GOD.

Well I know that I like to read the New Testiment because it talks about Jesus Christ. Each time i read about him, it makes me feel so good about myself because what he did for us. I don't like to read the Old Testiment because I don't feel the same. When I read the New Testiment I'm all excited for Jesus; I know he's coming, I know when he's coming. It's almost a religious rush.

I'm also not a big reader. I guess it would be better for me to read the Old Testiment, then the New Testiment. I think I will do that.

I hope I helped you understand, and thank you for bringing that to my attention!

I do not think the OT should be disregarded. After all, it does have a great many stories and interactions with God, about God, and so on. However, Jesus came to fulfill the law and we are saved through Him, that is why most Christians only stick with the NT.

Mainly because the OT is Jewish law, and covenants with them, preparing the way for Christ. With the NT, Jewish law was abolished, because Christ saved all people, and a new covenant was established for everyone, no longer Jewish law.

If the OT is not relevant doesn't that include Genesis?
Therefore the idea that god made the earth is irrelevant.
