It irks me that religious people, namely Christians, want to pray for me (and other non-Christians) because of my lack of acceptance of their faith. It's really of no concern to them what my beliefs are. Don't they realize that my soul does not need to be saved from anything, and I am perfectly capable of speaking with God in my own way?

My point is that they should mind their own business. Yes, it's a kind thing to do in that particular belief system, but it has no effect whatsoever on me. Now, if you want to wish me a good day, or even a good life, that would not be so offensive. Get it?

If they pray for you then good for them....
IF it some how does something good for you well good for you....don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

The thing is prayers are cheap and have no proven effect....actions speak louder than words...I believe the world would be a better place if people spent there time doing good for people instead of all that praying....Good deeds have results....Prayer ...Well the results of prayer are debatable

At one time in my life I felt the same way you do and could care less that anybody would pray for me ,but thank God that there was enough people out there that did care about my condition and prayed that I would someday come to the understanding of a message of Hope and would live a life worthy of living , What your blind to is the fact that your soul does need to be saved ,Hey I thought I was fine at one time and capable of talking to god in my own way but I found out that when I spoke to god it was only reaching the ceiling and no more, and through the Blood Of Jesus Christ I could be in right relationship with him , Sounds like a lot of people must be praying for you and there is a war going on in your spirit ,Ask Jesus to come into your heart today and you can have the same peace that is beyond understanding that millions of others enjoy

yeah, I think it's annoying too.. and when they call you a "lost soul" because you don't believe in God. I guess their ignorance is Bliss. No one ever wants to think about the reality of our minds and existance. We just keep denying and surrounding ourselves with fantasies and false feelings. HIde the truth cause it's better off for everyone if we don't know it. Just live happy and dumb. When you do find out the general reality of it all.. it's pretty depressing so.. people go and surround themselves with a fantasy of an afterlife.or heaven... whatever gets you through happily.. hah.. every intelligent human needs to read A book called "The Ethical Brain" by Michael S. Gazzaniga.

No they don't. Therefore...

Given that the latest research shows that prayer not only does not work, but in fact can exacerbate the problem or issue for which prayer has been requested and performed, I would strongly advise you to protect yourself. And as we are all made up of energy, in one form or another, this is how I would advise you to do it.

Visualize white light surrounding your entire body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Do this on a daily basis and nothing of a negative nature will be able to penetrate.

Good Luck, and,

Blessed Be.

Well said... I'm a Muslim and you are right if you want to speak to God or be saved that is for you to do of your own accord. You relationship with God or lack of it is entirely your choice and its very condescending when they say they are going to pray for you. I'm with you they should just pray for themselves.

It bugs me too but, if they are my friends I usually smile and shrug and let them do their own thing. Sometimes, depending on my mood, I will suggest to them that I'm doing fine but that there are a lot of sick and starving children out there who need help and if they could call god's attention to those problems I would feel much better.

Don't give yourself high blood pressure over it - it's not worth it.

Well your only half right. Is it not compassion that makes one care about another human, and does it hurt to pray for another.I mean no damage was done to you by a prayer was it,so why does it get on your nerves?

Yeah, it's not condescending at alllll to basically say "Oh, because you don't think the same way I do, I'm going to talk to the Creator of All That Exists on your behalf so he can change your mind. He n I are tight like that."

I don't know that they are praying for your lack of acceptance to their faith, as it may be more that they think you haven't accepted Jesus into your heart. Knowing that we (sinners) have an everlasting life in Him, they are praying for your salvation and that you will also receive the Jesus into your heart. And yes, you are quite capable of talking to God yourself, the question I have for you is, do you?

when someone points out the flaws in their theory, they say "a relationship with god is a personal relationship", (meaning "mind your own business"), but when they do it, it is because they are taught to "spread the word" - too bad they dont look at actions as speaking louder than words
