Americans' approval of Bush's Iraq policy drops to lowest level yet

The Associated PressPublished: November 17, 2006

WASHINGTON: Americans' approval of President George W. Bush's handling of Iraq has dropped to the lowest level ever, increasing the pressure on the commander in chief to find a way out after nearly four years of war.

The latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found just 31 percent approval on his handling of Iraq, days after voters registered their displeasure at the polls by defeating Republicans across the board and handing control of Congress to the Democrats. The previous low in AP-Ipsos polling was 33 percent in both June and August.

Erosion of support for Bush's Iraq policy was most pronounced among conservatives and Republican men — critical supporters who propelled Bush to the White House...

Bush needs to find a way to extricate US forces. We would not been in this position if the US had indeed found WMD's then the war could have been 100% jusitified. However, no WMD's and so went any moral jusitification for the invasion.
This is the inevitable result of a poorly planned, managed war based on faulty intell. The sad thing is no one in the administration will admit they "F'd up".
Bush's war has:
1) Allowed Bin Laden to escape justice.
2) Destroyed USA credibility in the world.
3) Killed allot of Iraqis for no gain.
4) Ruined the US military's reputation for no gain.
5) Destroyed the Republican party.
6) Killed and maimed many US Servicemen and women for no gain.
7) Driven away people that had sympathized and supported the USA after 9/11.

BTW I am a conservative voter and frequently supported the Republican Party. I think Bush has done more to hurt our cause than Nixon. At least Nixon had a somewhat viable foreign policy.

I now believe it is like Vietnam in that the MSM has reported nothing but bad since day one. They continue to make it like an unwinnable conflict and the masses suck it up in thier microminds and start to believe it. Since I live in a very rural area, when we end up losing in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the next attack is so big you could fill the Jet's stadium with victims, I for one will LMAO and scream, I TOLD YOU SO to any survivor I can find. BTW, when it does happen, do not even remotely think of asking for donations for the victims. The way many 9/11 families are acting I wish I could get my donations back.

for most voters Iraq has taken a decrease back seat to topics that honestly impact their daily lives, like the monetary device, potential expenditures, and well-being care. in my opinion, i do not care what they do with the warfare, as long as they don't deliver me. I have extra major issues to rigidity about the following at residing house. Polls taken in early September 2008 instruct good the following: "Do you favor, oppose, or neither favor nor oppose placing a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq?" favor-fifty 9% Oppose-35% Neither/uncertain-7% "All in all, thinking the prices to the USA as against the benefits to the USA, do you imagine the warfare with Iraq replaced into well worth battling, or not?" well worth It-36% not well worth It-sixty one% uncertain-3% "Do you imagine the USA is or isn't making significant progression in route of restoring civil order in Iraq?" Is-52% isn't-40% uncertain-7%

And you have no clue that they are the most biased liberal media bunch out there? Do you know who is financially supporting them behind the scenes? And considering only 40% of the voters voted that means only a tad bit over 20% were demos and not quite 20% were republicans. Wow, impressive now isn't it.

For those of you who think the war in Iraq is just and going well, why aren't you putting your own life on the line and going there yourself? I have never supported this war, and I agree with the fellow who stated this was has done plenty to damage this nation (in addition to costing countless billions of dollars) in terms of our reputation, our people, and the Iraqi citizens caught up in all of this. I know we have made a mess, and feel it is now our responsibility to clean it up. A very sad situation overall.

I think people are hearing lies about how it's going over there and why we're there. The military is a huge group of strangers willing to die while protecting us, people they don't know, and we all should support them and never do any kind of poll where they're concerned. Thank God we had Bush, if it'd been Kerry we'd all be dead.

It is clear that the American people believe that we have accomplished our mission in Iraq, and see no further reason to remain. I'm not saying that there aren't good reasons to stay in Iraq, just that those reasons don't resonate with Americans and that we are ready to move out and move on. "Move on to what?" I can't answer for the American people, but my own idea is to target other terrorist hot spots and threats.

I think the liberal press is winning the war. I think most people have no clue as to why we are there. Yes people are getting impatient, but the press is doing most of the damage. This has been there intention from the beginning.

Having written polls, I know that they can be worded and interpreted anyway the pollster wants...I agree with the first answer, the press is skewing the polls to reflect their agenda.
