She is a collector of all expensive things and she can't even walk from one room the the other without falloing over unopened bags and boxes the whole large 3 story house and garage are filled to capacity. When something is on sale, she will not just get one item she will buy as many as the saqle allows.

It is rare that merely by sitting people down and talking with them that they derive sufficient motivation to seek therapy. But you probably need to do that, for your own sake. You may not want to look back on this time and wish you had done something.

Since she's your friend, you should know whether she would be open to the implicit criticism this kind of conversation would present.

You have not indicated what has been the reaction of her family. Does her husband object to such spending? Are her children being deprived of things they need? Perhaps, this is something that her husband might more appropriately address.

You cannot help her. She is a compulsive shopper. It's a sickness in the same way that alcoholism is a sickness - and like alcoholism, she cannot be helped until she is willing to admit that she has a problem. The best thing you might be able to do for her is to encourage her to seek professional help. That is tragic.

She is a pack rat. It is a psychological condition and she probably needs professional help. Most hoarding is the result of a deprived childhood or a fear of losing her identity. Urge her to seek therapy.

first of all if she has enough money then it shouldnt be a problem. if she has kids you should tell her that she should save so her kids can go to college and explain to her that nice things can't give you happiness
