Darrell D: Excellent answer. There is is the moral law, which includes the Ten Commandments and other laws. These laws are indeed mentioned throughout the Bible and in the New Testament. As you mentioned, the eating of shrimp is a dietary law practiced by pre-Christian Jews. We follow the moral law, which actually existed before Old Testament Biblical times, and is still in force today. Jews may or may not observe OT Jewish dietary laws, as they see fit. None of them are binding on Christians. See Paul's letters and epistles in the NT. Jesus Himself said that all food is taken in the same way and is expelled the same way, so no food is really and truly "unclean".

Not anymore:
Acts 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance.
10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

You know, it's things like this that really make one wonder about those who seem to forget that the Bible was written BY MEN. Men, who were as fallible then as they are now, and who composed much of their writings based not only on their interpretations of the word of God, but on the times they lived in. Come on, seriously, are there really people today - thinking people, that is - who don't understand that the provisions concerning what not to eat were based on a very simple premise, and that was, that due to non-existent ways of keeping certain foods fresh, that eating them could and would cause illness? Beef jerky was do-able, but, not much else.
That link to "god hates shrimp" is for a group that is clearly a deliberate farce, designed to show people how utterly ridiculous it is, in modern times, to subscribe to parts of the Bible that are simply no longer applicable. I think that the Supreme Being has a lot more important things going on right now than persecuting people who decide to eat shellfish. Utter foolishness.
I guess some people base their belief system on the Hollywood version of "The Ten Commandments", where God himself burned writings into stone via a fireball...but...He didn't write the Bible. Men did.

Because the law applied to Jews who were in Judaism not to later Christians. It was a requirement of the now defunct Mosaic Law. The same as we no longer have to give burning sacrifice at the alter no more.
Christ is the head of the congregation now.
You need to seperate Mosaic Law requirements from Christian Law.

The bible also says..."Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts..."
(2 Peter 3:3)-- a scripture YOU seem to have fulfilled.

As a Christian, and knowing full well that we are not to eat shell fish, I simply do not patronize any place I should not be going to. That Is my being obedient to the Lord.
