You should file Head of Household if you qualify (which you probably do). It will reduce the amount of your taxes. To qualify, you must be unmarried and pay at least half of the living expenses for you and your dependent(s) or other qualifying individuals.
Read the section from the IRS below - it gives all the details about who qualifies to file as Head of Household. It isn't just for single parents - if your single adult child lives with you, even if (s)he isn't a dependent, you may qualify. If a sibling lives with you and you can claim them as an exemption, or if you support a parent (regardless if they live with you) and if you can claim them as an exemption, you may be able to file Head of Household.

If you qualify to file as head of household, which as a single mother you very likely do, then you should file that way, since you'll pay less taxes than filing single.

It depends on if you pay for your own house and if you pay for your kid If you do both then you qualify for head of household status
