For those of you that are against it for religious reasons (It's against God's teachings) why? Because it says so in the bible?

If God created the world, humans, animals etc then why would he create animals that would go against his "teachings" I hardly think that the Black Swans pray for forgivness when they are doing what comes naturally to them. So couldn't that be explained for humans, they are doing what comes naturally to them?

"Against Nature?" was set up to demystify the concept.

The argument that a homosexual way of living cannot be accepted because it is against the "laws of nature" can now be rejected scientifically, said Geir Soli, project leader for the exhibition

So what most of the answerer's here have a problem with is gay males. I keep seeing "its an out hole, not an in hole". What about the vagina? That goes both ways. So it is OK to be a gay women, just not a gay man? That would make you all Hypocrites. Homosexuality is homosexuality. So you are either against all of it or for all of it. You all need to pick one before you try to answer intelligently.

The hermaphrodite argument does not address homosexuality, so should not have been in that article, nor asexual reproduction, for the same reason.

As for 'homosexuality' in nature, I notice, in this and EVERY SINGLE OTHER ARTICLE OF THIS TYPE, that it is full of 'may be, could be, might be'.
So far the genesis of these 'studies' has invariably been a homosexual researcher trying to legitimize his/her 'lifestyle'

As for what the 'natural' world of animals does, you are forgetting one hugely important thing-SIN!
To look at the religious view without understanding it, and then try to criticize it if folly!
Sin is the reason that lions eat meat and why we have viral infections and so on.
I used to buy the argument that it is 'unnatural' to have homosexual sentiments. this is no longer the true argument. I agree that, possibly (and only possibly, thus to quell that path and make it moot), it IS a 'natural' feeling/desire/your fav.term here.
The Christian view is thus:
The NATURAL man is at odds with God. we are to purposefully and willfully put our 'natural affections under the dominion of God's law.
NO VENGEANCE
NO ADULTERY
NO STEALING
NO HATE
All of those things are 'natural' but violate the teachings of the Bible, trusted as God's word to man (in the Christian concept).
Homosexuality, even if it is 'natural' would fall into this same category.

Back to the article- these same conjectural pondering, when made by the theology-minded, are dismissed as unscientific and have no business in the serious and important realm of science.
Bull-crap!
ALL theory was, at one time or another just someones fantasy or idle thought, that grew and finally became investigated until it was shown to be one of the following:
true
false
possible and likely (which is no definitive answer)
possible and unlikely (same)
unsearchable (at least at that time with the technology available, which, by the way, is often where things are left even though 100 yrs. later they could be investigated, but are not and the prior findings stand, engraved in stone, no matter how erroneous they may be)
Much homosexual behavior in mammals is a dominance enforcing behavior, possibly analogous to human prison activity, rape the new guy and make him your slave , or at the very least enforce his rank in that society.
Do the homosexual swans have a mutated hormone gene that produces excess feminine hormones and causes, by a DEFECT, the desire (again if it is a desire) to search out or attract another male
By the way, I notice that this does not seem to mention that FEMALE swans, who also mate for life, join in 'lesbian' coupling.
One final observation, why assume these things and then try to apply them to human, in an attempt to bolster the homosexual 'lifestyle':
if animals do it, is is normal and natural
certain groups of animals represent the whole
the reasons that these things happen are proper within those groups.

Those things, listed above, must be ascertained in order to give validity to the claims made, and even then how is that a proof that it shows a validity for similar human actions?

This article is not news to me. I've read pieces on this subject prior to this. Consequently, I am in agreement. Homosexuality is natural to many species including human beings. This fact alone should remove the "demonizing" status it has with the monotheistic religions. But...

You can also look at this question from various points of view when discussing religion and spirituality.

The Karma point of view. What if you were born into an evangelical Christian family as a homosexual? Would this not afford you the opportunity to learn something valuable?

The Spiritual point of view. As with Catholic priests attempting to remain celibate, an act that goes directly against human nature, what if your personal spiritual learning curve meant that as a homosexual, you had to choose celibacy as the means of creating spiritual transcendence?

I'm just playing "devil's advocate" here. You can, if you want, look at this subject from various point of view. Personally, I believe we should live and let live as long as the participants of any particular sexual leaning or fetish do not harm anyone. As a former Prime Minister of Canada once said, Pierre Trudeau to be exact, "The state has no business in the nation's bedrooms." This same axiom should be applied equally to religion. It too has no business in the nation's bedrooms.

Great article. However, I don't have a problem with homosexuality. I'm not, but they should have equal rights. Which includes marriage. Anyway. Just my two cents. Again, great article.

Homosexuality is against God, read Leviticus and ask yourself this. Why would God say it's wrong then "make" someone go against what he said is wrong?

That makes no sense and nobody is born that way, sin enters in and as humans we have to make a choice as to which way we will turn.

I don't need to read any article to tell you what's truth.

Ready?

It's an "out" hole - not an "in" hole.

That's simple (and gross) enough to make my point.

It might be "natural" for me to want to "sleep with" my goat.

That don't make it right.

Comparing us to animals doesn't make the case anyway - it cheapens the argument, IMO.

Look, Ma! No Bible!

Nice try, but you loose because you are trying to twist the word of God and His laws to conform to your sinful lifestyle and choices. You can't justify your sins because the word of God clearly speaks against homosexuality.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Romans 1:25-32 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (GOD IS SPEAKING AGAINS WOMEN WITH WOMAN HERE!)

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. (GOD IS SPEAKING AGAINS MEN WITH MEN HERE!)

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; (GOD IS SPEAKING OF ALL HOMOSEXUALS WHO DELIBERATELY COMMIT THAT SINFUL ACT KNOWING FULL WELL THAT HE IS AGIANST IT!)

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: (GOD IS SPEAKING AGAIN AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY HERE!)

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
pleasure Psa 10:3, 1st Cor 13:6 (GOD IS SPEAKING OF THE FACT THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DO IS SINFUL AND AGAINST GOD, YET YOU STILL DO IT ANYWAY INSPITE OF YOU KNOWING WHAT SHALL HAPPEN AS A RESULT OF YOUR SINING AGAINST GOD!)

YOU ARE ONLY FOOLING YOURSELF!!!
