We don't have a crate but we have tried locking her in a room. The problem with that is when we go in there to check on her she gets over-excited. She tries to run and she has jumped a little. We are having a hard time keeping her settled down.

It is better to allow her to lay next to you on the and give her attention by stroking and talking to her in a gentle voice. She gets excited when you walk in the room because she has missed you. So if you stay with her instead then she will not get excited and will settle down and sleep.
It is best to not have visitors for a while.
The stitches come out after seven days so it should be healing nicely by now.

Leaving her by herself will only make her more excited and more likely to pull out her stitches. Have her do busy work like chewing on a rawhide, fill a Kong with peanut butter. Buster cubes are good, but sometimes gets the dogs a little excited. Best to stay with chew toys and calm treats.

You could tether her but do NOT tether her if you're not going to be around. Make sure you don't talk in an excited voice, and try to keep the yelling at a minimum. Oh, and don't worry.. just do your best to keep her safe. She'll be back to normal in no time :)

Aren't animals amazing? We could sure learn a lot about healing from them.
. I bought a play yard from the pet store. It isn't as closed in as a crate. Maybe she would settle down a little more if she were in the same room as you.

Firstly, congrats on being a great dog owner. Try getting her a bone to keep her busy, or one of those toys you put food on the inside and she will have to work hours to get a spoon full of peanut butter out!

When you get her out, use a leash and collar. And try using a crate. You should be able to rent one somewhere.

Does she respond to treats? Have her sit and earn the treat. This may work. Good luck.

confining a dog wont help them you are better to relax and keep the dog close to you.. like watch TV with her there.. or what ever.. a walk wouldnt hurt her ( a run might)

Maybe if you tie her leash to something with not a lot of slack it would keep her still.
