HANOI, Vietnam (AP) - President Bush sought Chinese President Hu Jintao's help on dual fronts Sunday, aiming to rein in North Korea's nuclear ambitions and encourage the Chinese people to buy more U.S. goods.

Capping a three-day stay in Vietnam's capital, Bush also asked for help from Moscow in the North Korea nuclear dispute and celebrated a deal allowing Russia to join the World Trade Organization.

Isn't it fitting that we stop fighting NK directly and use their own ally against them in areas where China perceives the greater threat (China is closer than the USA to NK's missiles)? So now, instead of fighting NK and putting China on the other side of the table (bad relations), we work with China as she fights NK, thus putting China on the same side of the table as us.

We respect regional diplomacy, advance our own interests, save money/resources, and gain a major ally in the process. Not a bad deal for us on all accounts; the next best alternative is a full scale military invasion of NK with possible military implications with China, so putting China in charge is almost a no-brainer.

It is the only realistic way of curtailing North Korea's nuclear ambitions. The option of the US bombing NK nuclear plants was never realisitc despite what the press says. It is a bluff that has not worked and was never going to without Red Chinese approval.

I guess we'll find out in a bit, when N. Korea gets pissed when we don't talk to them one on one. Lets just hope that we're not getting stabbed in the back by China.

China has a lot of influence over North Korea. I think its a smart move on the Presidents part.

Smart Move but Dumb President.

Who came up with that idea? It was not George W.

China is the way to North Korea. They are neighbors and are trade partners. What will speak to N. Korea? MONEY.

I think it is a smart move. We have to stay the course as far as our interface with North Korea. The more folks we have involved the better chance there is of keeping a lid on North Korea.
They are paranoid about our attacking there country and I think that is stupid for them to think so. I do not think the US would do that unless they attack us first.

It's a very intelligent move considering that China has more influence over North korea than any other country.

It seems quite foolish, since China helped North Korea develop it's nuclear capabilities in the first place.

If North Korea doesn't have oil then the US isn't interested.

We only go in and help starving or oppressed people who have oil or other valuable resources.

China is using NK to do it's wishes for China's ideals.
