Yesterday I threw up and along with the food, blood came up.
What does this mean?
I also have a friend who I've told about this and they say that there is a type of stomach acid or something that may appear to be blood but really isn't. Does anyone know anything about this?

Vomiting red blood indicates that the bleeding began shortly before you vomited. If the blood is black or appears dark brown and has the texture of old coffee grounds, the blood has been in your stomach for a longer time.
Consult your doctor immediately if you notice blood in your vomit or begin vomiting blood. These symptoms may indicate a serious problem.

If it was just a little bit of blood, you could have just been throwing up so violently that it burst a blood vessel in your throat. If it was a lot and happened more than once, you need to make an appointment to see your doctor immediately. i have never heard of stomach acid that looks like blood...good luck

What color was the blood? Red it was close to surface and exposed to oxygen. If you throw up stuff that looks like coffee grounds then you call 911. You probally just broke a blood vessel or your tonsils bleeding from the straining when u threw up.
